Projects!

Welcome to my favorite pastime....

Frank - the CNC Mill

Frank is a homemade Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) milling machine named after Dr. Frankenstein because all of the parts used to build Frank came from all over the place. I made the first version of Frank back in 2009. Since then he has grown up and gotten stronger.

Design Cycle

Designs using small computers involve many phases. This summary shows my methods of building artwork that hides such technology.

Large Clock

This is the largest clock I ever built. This clock displays brilliant, ever-changing color as if imaginary paint brushes slowly pass over its surface. It is one of my favorites and has been on display in my den since 2017.

Safe Place

I made this box for my wife as a place where she can keep her chocolate goodies away from my prying eyes and sticky fingers. It is made from solid bloodwood with maple inlays extending .2-inches into the bloodwood. The zipper links and text are embossed below the bloodwood surface. The zipper pull is a bubinga inlay embossed above the surface. The lid has a slow-sweeping curve around the edge. I gave this box to my wife along with a promise to never look inside. That promise is stronger than any lock I can attach.

MCR Project - A Gift of Gratitude

The MCR Project was made specifically for the law firm of Mesch Clark Rothschild in appreciation for all the ways the firm provided for our family during more than three decades of my wife's employment with the firm.
